I posted about cat scabs and spots and this is a follow up. I have checked all the cat food in the supermarket and every single one includes beef! Yes, even those that are called such things as “Tasty Turkey and Giblet Gourmet Delight”. So maybe this is why cats, here in NZ at least, are allergic to beef. It seems they have to eat it at every single meal no matter what their loving owners think they are serving up. If you eat one thing every day you are likely to become sensitive to it.
Now I am wondering if this happens in other parts of the world, or if New Zealand is unusual in this respect. We are a primary food producer and have a great many meat works here. Is beef an ingredient in your wet cat foods too?

Thanks everyone I am going to get another food for my cat without BEEF!!! My poor kitty has scabs everywhere on her head and neck and will not stop scratching! If this works I will tell you and I live in the US, I need to get a special food from the vet, yes everything here has BEEF too!
My local pet store has a 99 cent bin for merrick surf and turf wet food which I bought several cans of for my 2 4 month old kittens. I fed them each a can yesterday and both of them have had diarrea – the difference in this food being that it has beef and beef broth. this food was 99 cents for a reason…
@Anna: Oh I hate to think what rubbish is in it as well as the beef! Thanks for commenting Anna, it really makes the blog so much more interesting.
